Karate
We would like to introduce the Master of our System. Ed Parker, 10th Degree Kenpo Black Belt. Mr Parker was not only a master instructor but an author, publisher, director, bodyguard to Elvis Prestly & promotor. He was President of the International Kenpo Karate Association. Parker was referred to as the "Father of American Karate." He opened the first commercial karate school in the U.S. in 1954. One of Mr. Parker's sought after student is Mr. Richard "Huk" Planas. Mr. Planas is considered to be a living encyclopedia of the Kenpo Karate system. As such, he is sought after by many for interpratation and seminar instrution world wide. Mr Planas resided for many years in Chico after moving from Southern California. Chuck Epperson became his student during this time andremains with him today. Mr. Planas retunrs to Chico for seminars held annually in March at our school. Together Chuck Epperson and Mr Plana wish the art of Kenpo to continue in Per. Parker's Legacy

Chuck began his martial arts training in Ed Parker's American Kenpo in the late 1970′s under the Parker-Planas lineage in Chico, CA. He remains an active student of Grandmaster Richard “HUK” Planas whom introduced him to the art of Kali in the 1980's. From there he went on to train with Grand Master Anthony Kleeman in the art of Cacoy Canete's Doce Pares Eskrima in the 1990's. Chuck holds blackbelts in Eskrima, Eskrido, and Pangamont.Chuck has been teaching martial arts since 1979, and opened his own dojo in 1984. He still teaches 10 or more classes a day, 6 days a week. Chuck has also been very successful in sport karate competition, winning championships and grand championships in Kata, Weapons, Self Defense and fighting divisions. In June 2007 Chuck was inducted into the prestigious U.S.A. Martial Arts Hall Of Fame in Los Angeles, CA. as senior professor of the year in American Kenpo Karate. He holds this honor as a major highlight of his Kenpo martial arts career.
Sensei Chuck Epperson remains an active student of Grandmaster Richard “HUK” Planas whom introduced him to the art of Kali in the 1980's.
